Rowley Macklin

Hello, I’m Rowley, a visual frontend developer hailing from sunny, tropical Watford, Hertfordshire.

I love the work I do and the constantly evolving industry I work in, which always keeps me challenged. One of my passions is quality. I take great pride in my work.

    Frontend Developer

Initial primary task: Learn the new Piano content experience platform, and help integrate existing content and code into the system. Basically, I had to hit the road running as I'd never used Piano before. After three weeks of intense study and learning the hard way I was up and running.
Other major tasks: I created four powerlist microsites for F1 drivers, awards and power people in the industry.
Proudest of: Learning Piano at pace and integrating content and code within a very tight deadline.

Some Random Info

  1. My personal inspirations, like my taste in films and music is very eclectic. I have a real soft spot for classic comedy and especially Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy, who I consider to be absolute geniuses in comedy. And as for art, I’m a huge fan of Leonardo Da Vinci’s work.

  2. Without a doubt, the best job I’ve ever had was setting up and running an Ostrich farm in Kenya, on the outskirts of Nairobi. And by far the worst job was my first ever experience of work in my teens as a soft drink monitor at the Britvic factory. I had to do 3 hour shifts watching a tank of orange juice empty. The highlight of the shift was to press a big green button to refill the tank. The challenge and stress level reached critical when I had to press a big red button to stop the refill at the max point.

  3. Travel, used to be a pretty big part of my life. When I wasn’t busy working I’d pack up my backpack and discover a new country to travel around. In the very distant past I've lived and traveled extensively in Africa. And more recently have travelled throughout North America, Mexico, Central America, South America, South-east Asia and Oceania.

  4. I’ve even written a travel diary book, based on my backpacking trip around the World in 2007. It’s ranked an astonishingly modest #7,497,357th in books, and #36,427th in travel writing books on Amazon.
